depends on the integrity of the products we choose to sell, the manner in which
those products are made and our word. Balancing the demands of a discerning
clientele with a commitment to affordable quality compels us to choose the best

Commitment
to research and respect for innovation
The highly
knowledgeable and experienced buyers for the Big Carrot scout new items and
innovative practices. The Standards Committee of the Big Carrot researches
cutting edge sustainability, nutritionally and socially progressive projects to
recommend for Membership support.
Big
Carrot Affiliations
The Big
Carrot is a Founding Member of the Non-GMO
Project, (nongmoproject.org) a not-for-profit organization that promotes a
voluntary testing and labeling initiative of foods at risk from contamination
by genetically modified organisms.
The Big
Carrot is working with the Carrot Common (www.carrotcommon.com) in Greening the Roof, an educational installation,
providing examples of diverse green roofing possibilities, waste water
management/irrigation and on site vermicomposting.
The Big
Carrot serves on the Board of Directors of The Non-GMO Project, The Organic
Council of Ontario (organiccouncil.ca), and is a member of the Organic Trade Association (ota.com).
The Big
Carrot donates widely to the community and works with Carrot Cache (carrot.com/carrotcache)
to fund specific organic/educational enterprises.
The Big
Carrot recognizes the valuable research efforts and strategic planning services

For the growing season, The Big Carrot and Grow for the Stop work to make sure 10% of The New Farm purchases go back to the community and the farmers.
