Community Giving Partners

For forty years, Nellie‚Äôs has been a place of safety and recovery for thousands of women and their children at the most difficult moment in their lives. This year The Big Carrot donated funds to help complete the construction of 2 barrier free counseling rooms. This inaugural project of its kind in the GTA will create for the first time a safe and accessible space for physically disabled who have and are experiencing violence safely transition towards healthy independent lives free from abuse. 

This week-long initiative brings young people together from all across Ontario to learn about, and practice, communication and leadership through cooperative activities.  Since its inception in 1967 to its 46th year in 2013, more than 2800 young people have gone through Ontario CYL programs.

The Big Carrot sponsors 5 young people to attend camp every year.

2012 Youth Summit for Biodiversity & Environmental Justice

This summit gives 100 young leaders from 40 communities across the province an opportunity to participate in a one-of-a-kind event where they learn how they can contribute to the conservation movement in their communities and on a provincial level. 

Wellspring is an innovative and growing community-based cancer support centre. 
Wellspring provides support, coping skills, and education at no charge and without need of medical referral to individuals, family members and professional caregivers living with cancer. The Big Carrot participates in the nutritional programming, which provides a unique opportunity to learn the benefits of healthy foods.
