Deli Reno Information
Dear Big Carrot customers,
This fall the deli area will be under construction so we can introduce a new food service concept and create an exciting space.
We would like to apologize for the inconvenience but we promise it will be worth it!
Our new food service will incorporate:
- Salad Bar
- Hot Food Bar
- Sandwich Bar
- Soup Bar
- Grab & Go Cooler featuring Big Carrot dishes
- Rotisserie Chicken
- Pastry & Desserts
Two changes that should be noted are:
The introduction of some meat dishes to expand our offerings.
A reduction in seating area to accommodate more food service.
We will continue to provide many unique vegetarian and vegan options as well as uphold our commitment to our food and product standards. We believe this new set-up will please all eaters!
We will keep you updated as the renovations proceed and look forward to seeing you enjoy our new space in early January.
Renovation start date: October 11
For more information about the renovation, please speak with a customer service representative.
Q – Will you still serve vegan and vegetarian options in the new deli?
Big Carrot respects the diverse choices, health needs, and preferences of our customers, which are inclusive to a variety of dietary modalities.
We strive to do this while adhering to well-defined standards that support sustainable and ethical food production practices.
Our vegetarian deli has always included some animal products including eggs and dairy. After the upgrade and renovations we will introduce some meat products in addition to the many vegan and vegetarian options. This will include:
9 vegan/vegetarian of 10 options
6 vegan/vegetarian options of 6 options
Variety of fresh vegetables
1 vegetarian soup
Daily stew rotating between vegetarian and non-vegetarian
Vegan mineral broth every 3 days
2 vegetarian tacos
Salad or rice bowl
Several vegan/vegetarian options
Grab & Go cooler
59 daily vegan/vegetarian options
To ensure the continued integrity and commitment to vegan and vegetarian food dishes, there will be a separate food preparation area as well as ovens for cooking meat only.
Meat and Animal Welfare Standards
The meat used will be sourced from our current local farmers and will maintain our animal welfare standards which include:
- Prioritizing small Ontario Organic and ‘Pasture-based’ family farms
- No intensive factory farms or feedlot operations
- No cages or crowding
- No antibiotics
- No synthetic hormones
A signed affidavit is collected from each producer regarding these standards as well as a description of on farm practices that ensures all animals are being raised in a manner that allows them to live with dignity. We promote livestock production that is sustainable and healthy for all involved: from farmers to their animals, communities and our consumers.
We value your patronage and your commitment to making the best food choices that are in line with your values. We hope that you will continue to make those choices with us.
