Simplifying Reuse with Friendlier

Waving goodbye to one-use plastics! Friendlier blue reusable containers are now available in our Carrot Kitchen Hot/Cold Bar and for our Rotis in our Grab and Go section. Shop takeout sustainably by downloading the Friendlier app and grabbing your food in a Friendlier reusable container from our Hot/Cold Bar. Once you’re finished with your meal, simply scan the QR code on the back of the container and return the container to a participating Friendlier location drop-off box. We have one near our exit at The Danforth Community Market.

What is Friendlier?

Friendlier is a reusable container program that provides businesses and consumers with a more eco-friendly option for takeout containers. After a takeout container has been used it is returned to a Friendlier return box to be cleaned and sanitized. These blue containers are then reused at participating locations across Ontario.

How does it work?

Step 1: Download the “Friendlier” app in your app store or visit friendlier.ca to sign up

Step 2: Grab your takeout food using one of the Friendlier blue reusable containers. Head to cash and a $0.50 cent refundable deposit will be charged (don’t worry, you’ll receive your deposit back).

Step 3: Once you’re done with your meal, scan the unique QR code on the back of the container with your smartphone or enter the code at friendlier.ca.

Step 4: Drop your blue Friendlier container in a Friendlier return bin. Ours is near the exit at the Danforth Community Market.

After 1-2 weeks you’ll be able to claim your deposit by requesting an e-transfer through the Friendlier app.
