Gift Giving Outside of The Box

If your ‘to do’ and gift giving lists seem out of control this time of year, we have a few suggestions that might help cross a few items off!

Whether you are looking for a gift for that person who has everything or want some gift ideas outside the box (no pun intended), here are some charitable suggestions.

1. A membership to Canadian Organic Growers

The Canadian Organic Growers is Canada’s only organic charity.

This is a perfect gift for a gardener, a lover of good food or someone who has everything (except a COG membership)! It includes an annual subscription to their e-magazine.

2. A ticket to the Canadian Organic Growers conference

The Canadian Organic Growers Toronto conference happens on February 22, 2014. Tickets are $65.00.

This is a one-day conference for everyone with an interest in healthy food that nourishes people and the environment. It even includes an organic lunch!

3. Ontario Farmland Trust

Give the gift of Ontario farmland preservation through the Ontario Farmland Trust.  Funds go towards saving our vital farmland and will be matched dollar for dollar until Dec 31st. Double your money!

4. Co-farmer membership to the Organic Council of Ontario

Do you know someone who would like to be a farmer? How about giving them a co-farmer membership to The Organic Council of Ontario? Support Ontario organics in partnership with this great organization.

5. Tickets to Recipe for Change

Who doesn’t love the gift of food and a night on the town? Get someone tickets to FoodShare’s Recipe for Change on Thursday, February 27! $125.00 each.

Enjoy tasting plates from 30 local chefs, local beers, and wine while supporting FoodShare’s great innovative work in schools.

What are your charitable and ‘out of the box’ Christmas gift ideas? We’d love to hear about them!
