Part-time CSR / Nutritionist (16 to 28 hours/week, closing shift) Danforth

Job Summary:

The primary function of the Customer Service Representative / Nutritionist is to provide overall frontline customer care, through clear communication with customers, staff, and department managers. The role requires effectively delivering one-to-one and group information either in a preventative or a service capacity, and to achieve and maintain the highest level of customer satisfaction.

CSR/Cash Responsibilities

  • Excellent customer care aptitude in all avenues of customer interaction.
  • Research and update customer handout sheets.
  • Process customer requests i.e cooking class enrollment, mail outs, nutritional store tours (refer to department training binder.)
  • Various cashier duties: keying in or scanning the price of merchandise, receiving payments, bagging productivity

Nutritionist Responsibilities

  • Researching how the body’s functions are affected by nutrient supply, examining the process of nourishment, and the association between diet, disease and health.
  • Well-versed in current products, trends, and food issues as well as the store’s active projects and ongoing standards initiatives.
  • Investigating the relationship between genes and nutrients, studying how diet affects metabolism.
  • Providing health and wellness advice and promoting healthy eating and lifestyle.
  • Involvement in outreach projects in collaboration with the PR in the Marketing department.
  • Advising on specific diets and dietary needs.
  • Educating customers about nutrition.
  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team/supporting the work of other healthcare professionals (NDs, Herbalists).
  • Host store tours regarding specific and general food related or store topic.
  • Responsibilities may include any additional job-related duties as required by the Assistant Store Manager

 

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • A degree in Holistic Nutrition from an accredited institution is required
  • Minimum of 2 years previous customer service experience or working one-on-one with the public is an asset.
  • Training, knowledge, and awareness of Canadian organic standards, genetically engineered foods and food security is an asset.

Full-time Meat Wrapper (33 to 37.5 hours/week) Danforth and Southwood

Job Summary:

The Meat Wrapper is responsible for receiving and processing product and coordinating the appropriate flow of stock onto the floor. Staff are also responsible for providing excellent customer service and maintaining a clean and comfortable store environment.

Major Responsibilities:

  • The meat wrapper is responsible for receiving, storing, wrapping, weighing, pricing, and rotation of meat department products which include pre-packaged deli and frozen items.
  • Delivers excellent, friendly, customer service and product knowledge to customers.
  • Maintains a clean, neat and organized workplace and shelf/display space with appropriate labelling.
  • Involves working in both coolers and freezers; temperature extremes in working environment.
  • Involves moving or lifting objects of various weights (up to 50lbs) and sizes.
  • Involves standing for extended periods of time.
  • Exposure to sharp objects, large machinery.

Part-time Grocery Stocker (up to 24 hours/week) Danforth

Job Summary:

The primary function of the Grocery Stocker is to coordinate the flow of stock onto the floor, ensure that stock is rotated, expiry dates checked, and general stocking of the Grocery Department. Note that this includes the Fridge and Freezer section and Bread section of the Grocery Department. Excellent customer service is provided at all times when on the sales floor or over the telephone.

Responsibilities:

  • Offers prompt and polite customer service to all customers of the Grocery Department when on the floor or over the phone.
  • Handling customer questions and concerns in a friendly and informative matter to the best of his or her ability 
  • Knowing which resource (person or department) can assist with a customer if it is beyond the stocker’s scope of knowledge, and kindly directing them to that resource.
  • Coordinate the flow of stock from the back store room onto the shelves on the sales floor
  • Maintain clean, neat, and labelled shelves
  • Pulls and rotates product, taking into account expiry dates and changing labels
  • Awareness of spatial orientation on the floor to allow ease of customer traffic in the aisles
  • Inform Grocery Supervisors and/or Manager of any price discrepancies
  • Ensure price tags are correctly displaying information, such as name, price, sale price.
  • Merchandise items with efficient space usage.
  • Keyholder with security codes responsible for securely closing the store
  • Operating the walkie stacker forklift if necessary
  • Wearing all necessary Personal Protective Equipment as required (e.g. CSA steel toed boots)

Full-time Juice Bar Staff (33 to 37.5 hours/week) Danforth

Job Summary:

Juice Bar Staff are responsible for providing exemplary customer service, quality drinks and products, and maintaining a clean and comfortable juice bar environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Function effectively by balancing tasks in a fast paced environment while making sure to pay attention to detail.
  • Delivers excellent customer service and product knowledge to all Juice Bar customers.
  • Producing and serving quality juices and drinks for customers.
  • Using equipment safely and in the method trained by the Juice Bar manager and supervisor.

Full-time Body Care Supervisor (33 to 37 hours/week) Danforth

Job Summary:

The primary function of the Wellness Supervisor (Body Care) is to provide overall day-to-day operational functionality of the Body Care section in support and in the absence of the Wellness Manager. The supervisor’s main priority is to oversee operations on the sales floor through the delegation and maintenance of staff responsibilities, and ensuring a high level of customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for staff supervision, delegation, and efficiencies within the department, at the direction of the department manager. 
  • Creates a positive environment amongst department employees, motivates staff to take responsibility and to make decisions based on experience.
  • Resolves any staff or customer service concerns that occur on a day-to-day basis.
  • Makes observations and documents day-to-day running of the department and confers with Department Manager and/or Assistant Manager on a regular basis regarding the state of the department.
  • Participate in training and performance evaluation of employees at the discretion of the Department and Store Manager.
  • Given authority to be in a disciplinary role as per Big Carrot policy, at the discretion of the Department and Store Manager.
  • Inventory ordering responsibilities in support and in the absence of inventory staff.

Job Summary:

The role of the Body Care Consultant / CSR is to provide excellent customer service, maintain the appearance of the sales floor, and contribute to a positive and productive working / shopping environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Approach customers and provide confident, friendly, and informative customer service 
  • Accurately and quickly ring through purchases 
  • Prioritize and carry out tasks on daily To Do lists 
  • Stocking and receiving when necessary as per departmental policy and procedures 
  • Attend trainings and keep up-to-date on product knowledge 
  • Attend staff meeting and keep up-to-date on department changes 
  • Observe all policies and procedures concerning the store operations, Body Care department, and health & safety

Full-time Butcher (33 to 37.5 hours/week) Meat Facility

Job Summary:

Butchers cut, trim, or prepare meats (fish, chicken, pork, beef, etc) according to the sizes preferred by the consumers using knives, butcher’s cutlery and powered equipment such as grinders and bandsaws.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides outstanding customer service and maintains a positive work environment.
  • Processing various meats and fish into preferred and department standard portions, sausages and burgers; operate butcher’s cutlery and powered equipment like grinders, band saw, mincer, etc.
  • Maintains clean and orderly work space, following health and safety, food safety, and organic certification protocols
  • Properly wraps, scales and labels product 
  • Monitor the stock for buying and ordering, attending to product displays and customer needs
  • Adheres to all operational, health & safety, and organic compliance policies and procedures when the above responsibilities are performed.
  • Any other job-related tasks as required by the Meat Facility Department Manager.

 

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • High school diploma required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of meat cutting experience; knowledge of “all natural” meat programs an asset

Part-time Kitchen Dishwasher (16 to 24 hours/week) Danforth

Job Summary:

The primary function of the Dishwasher is to provide overall assistance and support in the general function and operation of the Kitchen through the use of essential knowledge and skills required to wash, clean and store dishes, utensils, food preparation equipment and/or kitchen.  Such skills include proficiently being able to utilize kitchen tools including but not limited to the proper knife handling/cleaning procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans and other kitchen equipment and ensure store cleanliness standards, using dishwasher or by hand.
  • Food preparation if necessary: clean or prepare various food items for cooking or serving.
  • Maintain a dry and clean floor surface through proper use of mops, squeegees, or scrubbing.
  • Ensure that food is properly stored.
  • Transfer supplies between storage or other departments and work areas, by hand or using a cart.
  • Remove compost and garbage
  • Performing kitchen maintenance; emptying the trash and washing dishes.
  • Assist in time management including making sure there is adequate materials available for use.
  • Transferring orders from produce as needed and putting the vegetable order away.
  • Putting the dry goods away and straightening the dry goods shelves.
  • Preparation kitchen as needed by peeling potatoes and chopping vegetables.

Part-time Production Cook (16 to 24 hours/week) Danforth

Job Summary:

The primary function of the Production Cook is to use the knowledge and skills required to prep, cook, and store vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. Such skills include being proficiently able to utilize a wide range of kitchen tools including, but not limited to, proper knife handling.

Responsibilities:

  • Follows designated methods and policies and procedures including, but not limited to, safe food handling and organic compliance standards for food preparation, storage, and serving of vegetarian dishes and dishes containing meat.
  • Uses and maintains all kitchen equipment safely and appropriately and maintains a clean and safe work area as per policy and procedures.
  • Provides excellent customer service when in contact with customers or other staff.
  • Performs all other related job duties as required by the Food Service Managers and Supervisors.
  • Attends all required Organic Compliance trainings and follows designated protocols
  • In the event that compliance of organic standards procedures cannot be met, notifies manager/supervisor or Standards Coordinator.

Temporary Part-time Cashier (up to 24 hours/week) Danforth

Job Summary:

The primary function of the cashier is to provide overall exceptional customer service for the Big Carrot by facilitating a pleasant shopping experience while processing transactions of customer purchases.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service by interacting with customers in a friendly, familiar and efficient manner.
  • Perform all transactions as accurately as possible, keeping debit and credit receipts neatly placed in the sections provided. 
  • Ensure manufacturer’s coupons are examined and processed accurately.
  • Process refunds as per Cash Department best practices.
  • Bag groceries neatly and efficiently if required.
  • Prior to starting shift ,when possible, check for new products daily (especially in the Produce Department).
  • Notify supervisor of any customer complaints and concerns, price discrepancies,  and equipment problems and/or tech issues that arise.
  • Update lost grocery file as necessary.
  • Return product and bottles to designated shelves when required.  
  • Direct customers to Customer Service for returns, complaints, and other situations that warrant longer explanations unrelated to the cash front.
  • Assist other cashiers when free and as needed.
  • Arrive for the start of shift on time and ready to work. Remember to give yourself a few minutes to get settled and look over product skus and codes.
  • Make sure to follow posted schedules unless otherwise advised.
  • Perform closing duties which can vary from trash disposal to general tidy up as directed by a Cash Supervisor.
  • Observe the policies and procedures regarding store operations and the health and safety policy.

Job Summary:

The main responsibility of the Wholistic Dispensary Consultant is to provide excellent customer service using their product knowledge, expertise in their field of study, engaged customer interaction and positive attitude.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide a prompt, pleasant and educated customer service experience.
  • Apply consultation experience to assess customer’s requirements, active listening, educated product information and balanced closing sales techniques.
  • Maintains up-to-date and clear communication and professional relationships with other staff as well as the Wellness Managers and Supervisors via all modes of communication (e.g. verbally, staff log, etc.)
  • Process point of sales transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently.
  • Stock products and perform other required duties in times of low customer traffic

  • Knowledge of supplements a requirement (e.g. general uses, relation to health conditions, brands)

  • Naturopathic students in Year 2 or above also qualify. 
  • Previous experience working as a natural health care consultant or clinical practitioner is an asset
