Meat Wrapper (Danforth Store)

Job Summary:

The Meat Wrapper is responsible for receiving and processing product and coordinating the appropriate flow of stock onto the floor. Staff are also responsible for providing excellent customer service and maintaining a clean and comfortable store environment.

Responsibilities:

  • The meat wrapper is responsible for receiving, storing, wrapping, weighing, pricing, and rotation of meat department products which include pre-packaged deli and frozen items.
  • Delivers excellent, friendly, customer service and product knowledge to customers.
  • Maintains a clean, neat and organized workplace and shelf/display space with appropriate labelling.
  • Involves working in both coolers and freezers; temperature extremes in working environment.
  • Involves moving or lifting objects of various weights (up to 50lbs) and sizes.
  • Involves standing for extended periods of time.
  • Exposure to sharp objects, large machinery.
  • Adheres to all operational, health & safety, and organic compliance policies and procedures when the above responsibilities are performed.
  • Any other job-related tasks as required by the Meat Department Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Previous meat room and customer service experience an asset.
  • Must have a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends.
  • Positive customer service attitude.
  • Dexterity to lift and maneuver loads of up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in close quarters and perform repetitive tasks in varying environmental conditions.
  • Must wear CSA-approved steel toed shoes while on duty.

Wellness Receiver/Stocker, Dispensary (Danforth)

JOB  SUMMARY

The primary job function of the Wellness Receiver/Stocker is to manage overall incoming and outgoing inventory, fill shelves and maintain a safe and functional backroom/stocking area.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage back stock room area and the shop floor paying special attention to workflow areas, cleanliness, and tidiness, as specified in our health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Complete stocking schedule, paying special attention to proper rotation as outlined by the department manager.
  • Observance of policy manual and departmental procedures to adhere to best practices in stocking, receiving and eliminating potential hazards.
  • Take on new or expanded responsibilities as position evolves or as required by management.

 

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Ability to communicate effectively within the department; take direction and provide necessary suggestions and input to improve productivity.
  • Organized and consistently follows through on commitments.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.

Customer Service Representatiave/Nutritionist (Danforth, Part-time)

Job Summary

The primary function of the Customer Service Representative /Nutritionist is to provide overall frontline customer care through clear communication with customers, staff, and the Department Manager, and to effectively deliver, as needed, one-to-one and group information either in a preventative health or a service capacity.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Customer Service Responsibilities

  • Excellent customer care aptitude in all avenues of customer interaction
  • Research and regularly update customer service handout sheets
  • Process customer requests (i.e mail outs, online orders, cooking class enrolment, etc.)
  • Receive, stock, and face appliances/books/other department products
  • Following opening, closing and cleaning procedures
  • Identify and offer accessibility customer service assistance to anyone entering the building that has a visible disability; retrieve desired items or provide personal shopping assistance

Nutritionist Responsibilities

  • Research general association between diet, disease and health
  • Producing (regularly reviewing and updating) handouts for customers based on various health/diet related research
  • Providing health and wellness advice and promotion of healthy eating and lifestyle pertaining to various health-related issues (advising on specific diets and dietary needs)
  • One-to-one or group store tours on various health or industry topics
  • Being well-versed in current products, trends, and food issues as well as the store’s active projects

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, and EXPERIENCE

 

  • A degree in Holistic Nutrition from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in customer service field
  • Training, knowledge and/or awareness of Canadian Organic Standards, genetically engineered organisms, and food security is an asset
  • Teamwork skills; good interpersonal, communication and social skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple demands

Job Summary

The primary function of the Dishwasher is to provide overall assistance and support in the general function and operation of the Kitchen through the use of essential knowledge and skills required to wash, clean and store dishes, utensils, food preparation equipment and/or kitchen. Such skills as include proficiently being able to utilize kitchen tools including but not limited to the proper knife handling/cleaning procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans and other kitchen equipment and ensure store cleanliness standards, using dishwasher or by hand.
  • Food preparation if necessary: clean or prepare various food items for cooking or serving.
  • Maintain a dry and clean floor surface through proper use of mops, squeegees, or scrubbing.
  • Ensure that food is properly stored.
  • Transfer supplies between storage or other departments and work areas, by hand or using a cart.
  • Remove compost and garbage
  • Performing kitchen maintenance; emptying the trash and washing dishes.
  • Assist in time management including making sure there is adequate materials available for use.
  • Transferring orders from produce as needed and putting the vegetable order away.
  • Putting the dry goods away and straightening the dry goods shelves.
  • Preparation kitchen as needed by peeling potatoes and chopping vegetables.
  • Adhere to all operational, health & safety, and organic compliance policies and procedures when the above responsibilities are performed.
