Production Cook, Full-time (Danforth)

Job Summary:

The primary function of the Production Cook is to use the knowledge and skills required to prep, cook, and store vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. Such skills include being proficiently able to utilize a wide range of kitchen tools including, but not limited to, proper knife handling.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Follows designated methods and policies and procedures including, but not limited to, safe food handling, maintaining clean, safe work areas and organic compliance standards for food preparation, storage, and serving of vegetarian dishes and dishes containing meat.
  • Food preparation which includes but are not limited to, cleaning, chopping, peeling foods and assembling dishes in preparation for cooking or serving.
  • Learns and adheres to the designated cooking methods for preparing the appropriate recipes/dishes consistently.
  • Ensures proper storage method of food ingredients in their designated area and ensuring that they are rotated properly.
  • Safely using and maintaining kitchen equipment which includes, but are not limited to, dishwasher, oven, stove (gas top), knives, robocoup, hand shredder, and small grader.
  • Provides excellent customer service when in contact with customers or other staff.
  • Performs all other related job duties as required by the Food Service Managers and Supervisors.

 

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • 1 year kitchen experience
  • Professional communication skills are required
  • Ability to take direction and work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure.
  • To efficiently utilize time management skills in a multi-tasking environment

Front of House, Part-time (Danforth)

JOB SUMMARY

FOH Service and Food Assembly Staff are responsible for providing friendly and efficient customer service by portioning, slicing, assembling, packaging, weighing, and pricing prepared foods.  Staff are also required to assist with department cleaning and food prep as needed.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Provide excellent customer service while efficiently serving and assembling food orders.
  • Assist in portioning, packaging, and labelling prepared food items.
  • In order to adhere to food health and safety standards, maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Work efficiently and effectively with other staff to uphold organic standards while producing and serving the highest quality food items.
  • Performs all other job-related duties as assigned by Food Service Manager and Supervisors.

 

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS, and SKILLS

  • Experience with food prep and food service is an asset.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Multi-task during periods of high customer volumes.

Part Time Dispensary Consultant (Danforth location)

Job Type: Part-time (up to 24hours per week)

Job Summary

The main responsibility of the Wholistic Dispensary Consultant is to provide excellent customer service using their product knowledge, expertise in their field of study, engaged customer interaction and positive interdepartmental attitude.

Job Duties

  • Provide a prompt and educated customer service experience.
  • Apply consultation experience to specific customer needs by building a unique customer/consultant relationship.
  • Assess customer’s requirements, active listening, educated product information and balanced closing sales techniques.
  • Process point of sales transactions quickly and efficiently.
  • Stock products and perform other required duties in times of low customer traffic
  • Follow department cleanliness requirements.
  • All other duties as required by department management and supervisors\

 

Skills/Attributes Required:

  • Customer service oriented attitude, leads by example.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple demands.
  • Flexibility of schedule (weekends and evening)

 

Education/Experience Required:

  • Knowledge of supplements a requirement (e.g. general uses, relation to health conditions, brands)
  • **Certification or diploma in a holistic health field ( N.D.) required.
  • **Naturopathic students in Year 2 or above are also welcome to apply.
  • Previous experience working as a natural health care consultant or clinical practitioner is an asset
  • Training, knowledge and/or awareness of Canadian Organic Standards, genetically engineered organisms, and food security is an asset.

Job Summary:

The Meat Packer is responsible for receiving and processing product and coordinating the appropriate flow of stock onto the floor. Staff are also responsible for providing excellent customer service and maintaining a clean and comfortable store environment.

Major Responsibilities

  • The meat packer is responsible for receiving, storing, wrapping, weighing, pricing, and rotation of meat department products which include pre-packaged and frozen items.
  • Delivers excellent, friendly, customer service and product knowledge to customers.
  • Maintains a clean, neat and organized workplace and shelf/display space with appropriate labelling.
  • Performs closing duties which can vary from compost and trash disposal, to general cleaning and storing of equipment
  • Communicates information to the department manager and supervisor, so the department can respond as necessary.
  • Adheres to all operational, health & safety, and organic compliance policies and procedures when the above responsibilities are performed.
  • Any other job-related tasks as required by the Meat Department Manager.

 

Requirements

  • No previous education required
  • Previous meat room and customer service experience an asset
  • Strong work ethic, shows initiative and the motivation to complete work assignments
  • Punctuality – arriving to work on time and completing assigned shift
  • Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential
  • Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback; able to follow direction
  • Involves working in both coolers and freezers; temperature extremes in working environment.
  • Involves working in tight, confined spaces
  • Involves moving or lifting objects of various weights (up to 50lbs) and sizes
  • Involves standing for extended periods of time
  • Fast paced work environment at times 
  • Exposure to sharp objects, large machinery
  • Must be available for day, evening and weekend shifts
