Full-time Produce Assistant Manager Danforth Location

Job Summary:

The primary function of the Produce Assistant Manager is to provide overall day-to-day operational functionality of the department in the absence of the Produce Manager; to ensure adequate receiving, stocking, rotation and preparation of produce and bulk items; to meet objectives for sales, inventory turns, labour, product selections and customer service.

Major Responsibilities:

At the discretion and/or in the absence of the Produce Manager, duties may include:

  • Oversees department staff supervision, scheduling, task delegation, stock movement and rotation, equipment function, and departmental cleanliness as per departmental and store policies and procedures.
  • Makes observations and documents day-to-day running of the department and confers with Department Manager on a regular basis regarding the state of the department.
  • Attends all Department and Manager Meetings if and when required.
  • Offers prompt and courteous customer service, field customer complaints, solves customer conflicts, and proactively determines customer needs.
  • Creates a positive environment amongst department employees, motivates staff to take responsibility and to make decisions based on experience.
  • Participates in purchasing product, budgeting, and/or analyzing departmental financials.
  • Keyholder responsibilities include but are not limited to ensuring store-wide opening or closing tasks are met; acting as management representative in situations requiring manager intervention (e.g. staffing issues, customer complaints, equipment failure, messages for management personnel)
  • Adheres to all operational and health & safety policies and procedures, the Occupational Health & Safety Act, and any organic compliance standards and procedures.
  • Perform any other job-related and/or managerial tasks at the discretion of the Produce Manager or Store Manager.

 

Skills/Attributes Required:

  • Knowledge of current trends in the natural foods industry.
  • Has the experience and ability to read and understand financial statements.
  • Outstanding leadership, organizational and communication skills. (Required to deliver effective direction, relay strategic information, and discipline.)
  • Computer skills (PC applications; email; Excel, etc.)
  • Ability to create a positive working environment that fosters creativity and problem solving.
  • Willingness and ability to learn and grow to meet the changing requirements of the job.
  • As keyholder, may work indoor and outdoor in all seasons and varying temperatures, some heavy lifting required (up to 55lbs); excellent customer service skills required.
  • Must be available evenings and weekends.

 

Education/Experience Required:

  • 1-2 years of relevant retail management experience in a grocery setting.
  • Relative management college level diploma an asset.

Temporary Dispensary Consultant (PT, 3 mos., up to 24 hrs/wk) - Danforth Location

Job Summary

The main responsibility of the Wholistic Dispensary Consultant is to provide excellent customer service using their product knowledge, expertise in their field of study, engaged customer interaction and positive attitude.

Job Duties

  • Provide a prompt, pleasant and educated customer service experience.
  • Apply consultation experience to assess customer’s requirements, active listening, educated product information and balanced closing sales techniques.
  • Maintains up-to-date and clear communication and professional relationships with other staff as well as the Wellness Managers and Supervisors via all modes of communication (e.g. verbally, staff log, etc.)
  • Process point of sales transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently.
  • Stock products and perform other required duties in times of low customer traffic
  • Follow department cleanliness requirements.
  • All other duties as required by the Wellness Manager and Supervisors.

 

Skills/Attributes Required:

  • Customer service oriented attitude, leads by example.
  • Organized, consistently follows through on commitments.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple demands.
  • Flexibility of schedule (weekends and evening)

 

Education/Experience Required:

  • Knowledge of supplements a requirement (e.g. general uses, relation to health conditions, brands)
  • Certification or diploma in Nutrition / Wholistic Health (e.g. ND, Homeopathy, Herbalist, TCM etc.) required.
  • Naturopathic students in Year 2 or above also qualify. 
  • Previous experience working as a natural health care consultant or clinical practitioner is an asset
  • Training, knowledge and/or awareness of Canadian Organic Standards, genetically engineered organisms, and food security is an asset.

Part Time Body Care Consultant (25-32 hours/week) - Danforth Location

Job Summary:

The role of the Body Care Consultant / CSR is to provide excellent customer service, maintain the appearance of the sales floor, and contribute to a positive and productive working / shopping environment.

Job Duties:

  • Approach customers and provide confident, friendly, and informative customer service
  • Accurately and quickly ring through purchases
  • Prioritize and carry out tasks on daily To Do lists
  • Stocking and receiving when necessary as per departmental policy and procedures
  • Attend trainings and keep up-to-date on product knowledge
  • Attend staff meeting and keep up-to-date on department changes
  • Observe all policies and procedures concerning the store operations, Body Care department, and health & safety
  • Adheres to and enforces the operational store policies and procedures, health & safety policies and procedures, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Standards Compliance procedures.
  • Any other duties as required by the manager or the supervisor on duty

Skills/Attributes Required:

  • Experience in working with make-up, hair care, essential oils and/or other esthetic fields is an asset
  • Ability to communicate effectively within the department
  • Ability to work and collaborate with other employees and management, as well as being able to work independently
  • Demonstrate good work ethic and initiative, contributing to a supportive and friendly work environment

 

Education/Experience Required:

  • Previous customer service / retail experience
  • Previous experience working in a natural health retail environment an asset
  • Knowledge of body care and/or cosmetic products in the natural health industry.
