Welcome to the Wholistic Dispensary! Have you noticed us before? We live directly across the courtyard from the main store. While we aren’t in the same physical building, we are part of the Big Carrot family.
The Wholistic Dispensary is the Big Carrot’s supplements department. In our cozy confines, you can find a huge variety of vitamins, minerals, herbs, homeopathic remedies, essential fatty acids, probiotics, topical skin remedies, and superfoods. Got a cold that you can’t kick? We’ve got something for you. Menopausal hot flashes driving you bananas? There’s something for that too. Looking for something to help you sleep? Pop in and we’ll help you out.
What makes us different?
Aside from being exceptionally gifted at making a massive amount of product fit into a tight space, we’re different from other health food stores.
The main thing that sets us apart is the type of advice you can expect to receive at the Wholistic Dispensary.
Every consultant on the floor is a certified health professional. We have naturopaths, nutritionists, herbalists, and homeopaths. There are many years of school between all of us! Not only do we all have professional designations, but we are all extremely well educated in the products we carry. We receive regular trainings from supplement companies, so we can help you compare, for example, one brand of fish oil to the next.
We can help you navigate the subtleties that occur from brand to brand and help you make the right selection for you. If one of us can’t answer a question, chances are another consultant on the floor can. And if no one in the store is able to find an answer for you, we will call the company. We will get an answer for you!
As you can imagine, being in a busy retail setting requires that we have some limitations. Our consultants can answer questions about the products we carry, but we can’t diagnose or treat any conditions in the store. For example, we are happy to help you choose which topical cream might help your inflamed skin, but I wouldn’t advise you to lift up your pant leg and say, “What’s this rash?” Likewise with sticking out your tongue, showing us your blood test results, or feeling a lump. We love to help our customers but legally, we can’t always fulfill certain requests. Information received from our staff or consultants should never be considered a substitute for medical advice from a healthcare professional.

Many consultants in the Wholistic Dispensary also maintain private practices beyond the Big Carrot, offering services to clients for a fee. This option is suitable for those seeking ongoing support with chronic health issues. Additionally, we can offer referrals to other practitioners within our network if you are looking for a specific health professional with expertise in a particular area
Unlike many other health food stores, we are also able to carry a wide range of professional lines that are typically only sold directly through practitioners.
Because we are staffed with professionals, we are able to carry lines like Mediherb, Golden Flower, Genestra, UNDA, Metagenics, Thorne, Cytomatrix, and Restorative Formulations that may be difficult to find elsewhere.
