Job Summary:
The primary function of the Customer Service Representative / Nutritionist is to provide overall frontline customer care, through clear communication with customers, staff, and department managers. The role requires effectively delivering one-to-one and group information either in a preventative or a service capacity, and to achieve and maintain the highest level of customer satisfaction.
CSR/Cash Responsibilities
- Excellent customer care aptitude in all avenues of customer interaction.
- Research and update customer handout sheets.
- Process customer requests i.e cooking class enrollment, mail outs, nutritional store tours (refer to department training binder.)
- Various cashier duties: keying in or scanning the price of merchandise, receiving payments, bagging productivity
- Receive, stock, and face appliances/department products.
- Follow opening, closing, and cleaning procedures.
- Facilitate and support the roles of the Department Manager and Head Nutritionist.
- Completes all tasks as indicated by Department Manager, Head Nutritionists, and Standards Coordinator as required to fill the needs of the job.
- Identify and offer accessibility customer service assistance to anyone entering the building that has a visible disability. Involves retrieving desired items or providing personal shopping assistance.
Nutritionist Responsibilities
- Researching how the body's functions are affected by nutrient supply, examining the process of nourishment, and the association between diet, disease and health.
- Well-versed in current products, trends, and food issues as well as the store’s active projects and ongoing standards initiatives.
- Investigating the relationship between genes and nutrients, studying how diet affects metabolism.
- Providing health and wellness advice and promoting healthy eating and lifestyle.
- Involvement in outreach projects in collaboration with the PR in the Marketing department.
- Advising on specific diets and dietary needs.
- Educating customers about nutrition.
- Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team/supporting the work of other healthcare professionals (NDs, Herbalists).
- Host store tours regarding specific and general food related or store topic.
- Responsibilities may include any additional job-related duties as required by the Assistant Store Manager
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- A degree in Holistic Nutrition from an accredited institution is required
- Minimum of 2 years previous customer service experience or working one-on-one with the public is an asset.
- Training, knowledge, and awareness of Canadian organic standards, genetically engineered foods and food security is an asset.
- Teamwork skills demonstrated from past work experience an asset.
- Good interpersonal, communication, and social skills.
- Previous experience working with processing cash, debit and credit transactions an asset
- Must be available for days, evenings, and weekends.

Job Summary:
Butchers cut, trim, or prepare meats (fish, chicken, pork, beef, etc) according to the sizes preferred by the consumers using knives, butcher's cutlery and powered equipment such as grinders and bandsaws.
Responsibilities:
- Provides outstanding customer service and maintains a positive work environment.
- Processing various meats and fish into preferred and department standard portions, sausages and burgers; operate butcher's cutlery and powered equipment like grinders, band saw, mincer, etc.
- Maintains clean and orderly work space, following health and safety, food safety, and organic certification protocols
- Properly wraps, scales and labels product
- Monitor the stock for buying and ordering, attending to product displays and customer needs
- Adheres to all operational, health & safety, and organic compliance policies and procedures when the above responsibilities are performed.
- Any other job-related tasks as required by the Meat Facility Department Manager.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- High school diploma required.
- Minimum of 2 years of meat cutting experience; knowledge of “all natural” meat programs an asset
- Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and results-driven Produce Director to oversee the fresh produce and bulk operations across The Big Carrot locations. This role is responsible for the end-to-end management of produce procurement, supplier relationships, merchandising, and in-store execution. The ideal candidate will ensure consistent, high-quality customer experiences across all store locations, while driving sales, profitability, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Supply Chain
- Lead all aspects of produce procurement for the chain, including sourcing, negotiating contracts, and managing vendor relationships.
- Identify and evaluate new suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, quality, and availability.
- Forecast demand, manage inventory levels, and reduce waste across the supply chain.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supplier Relationships
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with regional growers, distributors, and wholesalers.
- Ensure suppliers meet quality, food safety, and delivery standards.
- Collaborate with suppliers on promotional opportunities and seasonal product planning.
KPI Development & Performance Tracking
- Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as shrink, margin, product turns, availability, and freshness.
- Use data-driven insights to guide buying decisions, reduce spoilage, and improve gross margins.
- Regularly report performance results to leadership and store teams.
Program & Process Development
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Produce Program to ensure a consistent product mix, display standards, and customer experience across all store locations.
- Standardize operational procedures and merchandising practices.
- Collaborate with store teams to support execution at the store level.
Assortment & Merchandising
- Curate a compelling produce assortment tailored to customer preferences, seasonal trends, and local demand.
- Oversee planograms, signage, and promotional strategies to drive sales and visual appeal.
- Monitor category performance and adjust assortment accordingly.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner with Operations Manager, Marketing, and Finance to coordinate promotions, new item rollouts, and pricing strategies.
- Support store teams with product knowledge, training, and best practices.
Retail Support & Physical Requirements
- Provide hands-on support to store teams to ensure proper execution of produce merchandising, quality standards, and promotional programs.
- Conduct regular store visits to coach department managers, assess execution, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Lead by example in setting and maintaining operational standards across all store locations.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs as needed when supporting in-store execution, stocking, or product handling.
- Comfortable working in refrigerated environments and standing for extended periods during store visits or resets.
Leadership & Team Management
- Directly oversees Produce Managers and staff.
- Collaborates with Store Managers to drive program implementation and maintenance.
- Provides leadership in recruitment, training, performance evaluation, and discipline as necessary.
- Creates a professional and collaborative work environment that fosters growth and accountability.
- Maintains clear communication between all departments and company leadership.
- Works closely with the Operations Manager to align kitchen strategies with overall business objectives.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in produce management, procurement, and merchandising—preferably in a multi-unit grocery environment.
- Proven track record of growing produce sales through strategic assortment planning, merchandising, and supplier partnerships.
- Demonstrated success in developing and mentoring produce leaders and department managers, fostering high-performing teams.
- Experience running efficient departments, with strong focus on labor planning, productivity, and cost control.
- Proven success in vendor negotiation and supplier relationship management.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data, manage budgets, and optimize inventory.
- Demonstrated ability to create and implement scalable programs across multiple locations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
- Deep knowledge of fresh produce categories, trends, and perishability factors.
- Ability to travel between store locations, to competitors, suppliers and the food terminal as needed
